Dilys

"Miss Dilly" (sometimes called "Dilly Doodle", or "the Dilster") was born on October 15, 2003 and named "Dilys" (her father was "Mozart" and her mother was "Toffee" ... of San Francisco (breeder Frank Stephens); both were champion Welsh Terriers).  "Dilys" is a Welsh girls name meaning "steadfast", "true" and (reflecting a U2 song) "better than the real thing".  That name seemed to fit the circumstances at the time she arrived home on January 6, 2004.

Dilly loves to play (especially with other dogs).  She has boundless energy and is always "busy" during the day.  At night she's a great lap dog and TV/reading companion, except when a dog shows up on television (her favorite channel is Animal Planet); she jumps to get into the screen.

Dilly is quick enough to catch mice and lizards (her first mouse was on August 29, 2005), but hasn't quite figured out what to do with them (other than to let them go to play some more).  She is "crate trained" and sleeps in a pen with access to a small "dog yard"; in the morning she bounds out and ... wants to play!   She's also "all natural" (she only eats natural food, mostly raw meat/bones, but with special concoctions of vegetables, organ meat, cheese, yogurt, oils, oatmeal, squash, and egg).  Dilly has had an adventure with a skunk that didn't turn out well, and, hopefully won't get repeated.  Cesar Milan's influence is that Dilly gets lots of exercise; her favorite places are the dog park and a two mile walk (sniff?) of Felsman Loop, near the house.

Dilly has a large fan club.  Notably, the UPS guy stops at the house to give Dilly a treat and pet her, whether he has anything to deliver here or not.

[The top photo is at 9 months; the next photo is Dilly with an Australian Shepherd friend ("Dilly the Dominator"), the next picture is Dilly with her first mouse; the picture to the right  is at 19 months].

Dilly is full grown at 17.5 lbs.
